Bancha is plucked later than Sencha, normally around autumn and is roasted to add a smoky aroma while rendering a rich golden colour. Bancha yields a grassier, lighter-bodied tea that has lighter vegetal flavors of grass, celery, and wet wood, yet it is very assertive.
